Housed in a massive building, the "village" has more candles than you can imagine, and also features a candle museum, a faux Bavarian Christmas market, food and cooking products, and much more.
The village is home to the King Candle, the world's largest candle, at 1,377 pounds. It would take 7 1/2 years for the whole thing to burn.
Yankee Candle provides you with the opportunity to make your own candles (for a fee, naturally). Ava made one with stripes and swirls. It will be interesting to see (smell) if her variety of scents go well together.
Ava continued to refuse to nap in the car, but did make some good headway on "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix." As you can see, her friend Lucky the Lobster survived our attempts to eat as much lobster as possible whilst in New England.
Arriving in Cooperstown, we decided to save the Hall of Fame for tomorrow, but Ava got in some soccer practice, and Chris and Ava played catch in the park next to the Hall of Fame.
We checked out the latest baseball standings in front of the Hall, and the nearby statues Sierra and Jen's "be a statue" game made its way to New York as Ava mimicked Satchel Paige's windup.
We ate dinner at the teeny, tiny Cooperstown Diner, which is roughly the size of a single-wide trailer. After dinner we checked a few of the dozens of baseball shops on Main Street. Ava got a new shirt but we saved further purchases for tomorrow.
We'll dream of baseball tonight as we anxiously await our visit to the Hall of Fame tomorrow.
