Moving on from Cape Cod, we drove to Newport, Rhode Island - playground of the rich and famous. We toured The Breakers, the summer getaway for the Vanderbilt family, but we didn't see Anderson Cooper anywhere.
Ava did enjoy the kids' audio tour, and we all gawked at the splendor of the estate.Taking the Cliff Walk, we got to see some of the rocky Rhode Island shore and got to peek into the back yards of the 1%.
For a late lunch we headed downtown to LaForge, which overlooked one of the grass courts at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
After nearly running out of gas in the backwoods of Rhode Island, we finally coasted into a gas station on fumes before driving into Connecticut.
Our evening's entertainment included another baseball game, but only after driving up some sort of wooded mountain and through an industrial park. At last, we arrived at the ballpark to see the Connecticut Tigers and Lowell Spinners (single-A teams for the Tigers and Red Sox) square off.
For dessert, the stadium offered real Ben & Jerry's ice cream. That wasn't enough for the Spinners (who we had seen in Lowell three years ago) as they fell in a nail biter, 5-4.
