After bouncing around for most of our trip, we spent our entire day in Mystic, Connecticut. Our main event was the Mystic Seaport, a sort of living history museum located on the banks of the Mystic River and celebrating the area's 19th century shipbuilding history.
Jen and Sierra met us in Mystic as we learned about sailing, whaling, and land-based life too. They even dipped candles.
The highlight of the day was a rowboat ride along the river (even though we almost grounded our boat).
After getting our fill of history, we walked down the road and got our fill of ice cream while continuing to enjoy views of the river.
We got to see the Mystic River drawbridge raised and lowered to let passing ships go by as we walked across the river to have dinner at Mystic Pizza (yes, the one from the movie with Julia Roberts) with Jen, Rob, and Sierra. After a good dinner, Ava and Sierra had one last time together in the pool before we said goodbye.
Tomorrow, we drive back to Massachusetts and then on to New York where more adventures await.
