Despite making a couple wrong turns getting out of London, we ultimately made our way to sunny Wiltshere. Specifically, Avebury, home of the largest henge and stone circle in Europe, and possibly older than Stonehenge. Unlike Stonehenge, however, the henge here completely surrounds an entire village and everyone's allowed to go right up and touch the stones.
A yummy lunch was had at the Red Lion, a pub first licensed in 1802. Inside the front dining room of the pub is a well 86 feet deep in which a villager unfortunately fell.
Leaving Avebury and heading to Bristol (and after a couple more wrong turns) we stopped at the local Costco where they had lots of great British stuff that certainly isn't found at home. Not just Ribena and chocolates, but football (soccer goals) and haggis.
Getting back in the car, we left England via the Second Severn Crossing and headed into Wales.
Passing Newport, Cardiff, and Swansea, we made our way to our B&B the town of Narberth (population 2,150), in Pembrokeshire.
With just three rooms - and one of the rooms being empty - we had the whole house to ourselves. The house was right next to St. Andrew's church, and open fields filled with sheep.
As Ava was starving, we wandered through the quaint little town and had dinner at the local pub.
We ended the night with a stroll around the church and its graveyard as the sun goes down.
Tomorrow we explore more of Pembrokeshire including checking out the coast.
