Out and About in Southern California

When we're not at home, Ava often enjoys short trips to nearby parks and beaches, and slightly longer trips to L.A. and San Diego.

In April, we met up with Poppy and Grammy at the Festival of Books at UCLA.
Our favorite beach is Crystal Cove, where Ava loves splashing about in the tide pools.

One of our regular places to visit is the San Diego Zoo with its aerial tram and new polar bear exhibit.
Even trips to Old Navy can be exciting.
Of course there's nothing better than climbing and playing at the park.

Some days we get a bit of culture (yes, arts and culture exist in SoCal), by going places like the Huntington Library with Grandma and Grandpa.

Lots of fun is had in or own home and yard.

In February, Ava celebrated her half birthday with Poppy and Grammy.
She always makes sure to protect herself from the damaging rays of the sun.
Ava has continued to work on her cooking skills with Grandma ...
... and makes sure to clean up too ...
... but still plays with her food.
For Easter Ava dressed up to match her doll.
Every day she is becoming a better and better reader (and has memorized several short books).
As the weather had warmed up, we've recently spent lots time outside playing with bubbles.

Fun with Playgroup and Preschool Friends

Ava has made many friends from her weekly playgroup and from preschool. Her fun activities over the last few months have included:

Playing with Simone at preschool;
An Easter egg hunt at Irvine Regional Park;
Lying on a bed of nails at the the Discovery Science Center;
Eating carrots and strawberries at Tanaka Farms;
The final day of Mrs. Young's preschool class at St. Paul's;
and a trip to our local fire station - OCFA Station #26.
